      This is a picture of Mt Etna – a currently active volcano in Italy. I’m looking at the image in different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum that can see hot things like lava much more easily. That’s why the image looks funny – the colours aren’t realistic in the same way as you take a photo with your phone 🙂 You should be able to see the red hotspots of the lava at the summit – that’s radiated light in the infrared and not necessarily what the lava looks like 🙂

      Somewhere under that massive smoke trail is the town of Paradise in California. This has been completely destroyed by wildfire and most houses have been destroyed. Once the fires die down it will have to be completely rebuild.
