• Question: Is it a fun job or just serious? Why did you choose this job? Is it heavy going due to the hours you work?

      Not at all serious. My company also has a social committee which I am part of. it’s my job to make sure every month there’s a fun activity for everyone to get involved with. We get given a budget at the beginning of the year, and it’s up to the committee how we spend it. We have two main events the summer and Christmas party. Then smaller events like, free ice-cream or pictionary games. We also have a flight simulator in our office and just recently we had a massive halloween competition where we all had to dress up and decorate our areas – people were very creative.

      I chose the job because I love flying and I love talking to customers. I wanted a customer facing role and to make sure I wasn’t just stuck in the office all the time. The job is heavy at times, and sometimes you do have to put in the extra time but if you have home commitments you don’t have to stay extra, and generally everyone works as a team to help each other out in difficult times. So the hours will never be too much and won’t disturb your personal life

      My job is both really! A lot of the time it is serious because we have to solve a lot of problems and get things done before a deadline! But it’s also fun because Oxford Space Systems is like a family and we have days out sometimes! So we make sure we have fun from time to time! But fun in engineering comes from the problem solving and the feeling you get when you accomplish and finish a project:D I chose this job because it sounded amazing making parts for space and being able to make new technologies for space:D It’s not really heavy going because I love my job so the hours go by very quick and I always have some free time for myself in the evenings and have weekends off:D
