Most of my work is in the office. Sometimes I go out on to the site to look at things, which helps me understand the problem better. I don’t go abroad unless it is on holiday, which is around 2-3 times a year.

I spend about 40% of my work time in the office figuring out problems and doing little bits of paper work here and there and then the other 60% of the time is in the workshop or clean room making things. I spend a lot of time walking around site going to different warehouses where we have different areas of work such as the antenna material making. I am hoping to join part of the business side so I can go travelling with them and do the business side around the world:D

I travel for about 25% of the time – this year alone I have had to travel to Barcelona, Bulgaria, Toulouse, and Cardiff. I’m hoping to get some customers in more exotic places haha, it all depends on which customers require training. The good thing is when I travel, I always make time for a quick sightseeing to enjoy the place I’m in

I travel abroad for pleasure about 2-3 times a year but never for work, though if I got into a more business role I would travel quite often.
As for office vs lab – it varies month by month. Some months I’m designing systems and components which is 90% in the office and other months (this month for example) I’m in the lab, testing area or machine shop 90% of the time. Working at a small company means you can pick and choose what you do which helps keep things interesting.
