Hey! Very good question! In all honesty, the whole process is a challenge. Because customers want such varied deployable products, varying from meters long to centimetres long, so many areas are challenges! Such as, will the materials actually be strong and smooth enough for the size wanted, will the material be durable within space, will the material form cracks and other issues alike, will we be able to manufacture such small components for the satellites and antennas, will it all be able to be motorised and move within space! And soooo much more! But that’s the beauty with where I work! I discover and learn so much from all these questions everyday:D I would say our largest challenge though is ensuring the material ( carbon fibre ) folds to the correct memory state every time without forming cracks and creating other memory states. A memory state is where the material folds into the same place and size everytime! Every project is always a new challenge and learning curve for everyone within the company, Oxford Space Systems:D
